چکیده

Panoramic images have only been feasible if all contributing image patches share a common center of projection. Then, they can be consolidated into a single image using perspective transforms. In contrast to that, we propose a novel non-linear warping scheme which allows the merging of multi-perspective images, thus taking advantage of scattered cameras. Therefore, a polygonal cut is defined in two source images to be merged. Usually, the layout of the cuts does not allow a user to stitch both images together naively. Thus, two convex combinations of a warped and a canonic coordinate system are applied so that both source images fit together at the cutting edge while the inevitable distortion decreases towards the borders of the image to obtain a natural appearance. 2008 Elsevier B.V. Multi-Perspective Modelling, Rendering and Imaging

A perspective image represents the spatial relationships of objects in a scene as they appear from a single viewpoint. In contrast, a multi-perspective image combines what is seen from several viewpoints into a single image. Despite their incongruity of view, effective multi-perspective images are able to preserve spatial coherence and can depict, within a single context, details of a scene tha...

A New Ground-based Stereo Panoramic Scanning System

This paper introduces a linescan-based stereo panoramic scanning system that employs an off-axis camera configuration mode. In this mode, the two stereo linescan cameras are mounted off-axis on the horizontal bar of a camera mast, approximately equidistant from the rotation axis. Compared to the on-axis mode used in many other linescan-based panoramic scanning systems, the off-axis mode enables...

On Calibration, Structure-from-motion and Multi-view Geometry for Panoramic Camera Models

We consider calibration and structure-from-motion tasks for a previously introduced, highly general imaging model, where cameras are modeled as possibly unconstrained sets of projection rays. This allows to describe most existing camera types (at least for those operating in the visible domain), including pinhole cameras, sensors with radial or more general distortions, and especially panoramic...

A New 3D Imaging System Using a Portable Two-Camera Omni-Imaging Device for Construction and Browsing of Human-Reachable Environments

As an improvement on existing street view systems which cannot be moved to certain environments to acquire images, a new 3D imaging system using a portable two-camera omni-imaging device is proposed. The device can be carried on one’s back and moved on foot to any indoor and outdoor scene spot to acquire omni-images which cover the entire spherical view of the scene with an overlapping image ba...

Dosimetry of Occupational Radiation around Panoramic X-ray Apparatus

Background: Panoramic imaging is one of the most common imaging methods in dentistry. Regarding the side-effects of ionizing radiation, it is necessary to survey different aspects and details of panoramic imaging. In this study, we compared the absorbed x-ray dose around two panoramic x-ray units: PM 2002 CC Proline (Planmeca, Helsinki, Finland) and Cranex Tome (Soredex, Helsinki, Finland).<br ...
